DigitalDreamDoor's 100 Greatest Classical Music Works

digitaldreamdoor.com is a website dedicated to people who love music. The lists on this site are created by people and visitors attempting to create rankings of songs, musicians, albums, and musical artists of rock, blues, jazz, and classical, and all their sub-genres. Here, DigitalDreamDoor offers its opinion of the 100 greatest classical music works of all time. Agree? Disagree? Let us know. I personally would have liked to see "Duo des Fleurs" de Léo Délibes - Lakmé on this list, but I'm happy that "The Planets" by Holst was in the top 30.

1. Symphony No. 9 "Choral" – Ludwig Van Beethoven

2. Mass In B Minor – Johann Sebastian Bach

3. Symphony No. 6 "Pathetique" – Peter Ilitch Tchaikovsky

4. Symphony No. 41 "Jupiter" – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

5. Rite Of Spring – Igor Stravinsky

6. Symphony No. 9 – Gustav Mahler

7. The Ring of the Nibelungs – Richard Wagner

8. Symphony No. 3 "Eroica" – Ludwig Van Beethoven

9. Pictures At An Exhibition – Modest Mussorgsky (orch. by Maurice Ravel)

10. Symphony No. 5 – Ludwig Van Beethoven

  1. Sym. 6 and 41 are too high. Mahler is just right, but Ring of the Nibelungs should probably beat out Rite of Spring. Sym. 3 is too high and Sym. 5 should be still higher. GREAT List, though, if not incomplete.
